This site provides a deeper understanding of Azar Nafisi's memoir, Reading Lolita in Tehran.

In 1995, Nafisi started a secret class with seven of her best English literature students. Together, they studied various pieces of fiction that reflected their lives and experiences during the Iranian Revolution. Each section of the book is devoted to an author whose works the class has read. Through each of these sections, Nafisi elaborates on the trials and tribulations that she and her students have endured during this time.
